This is the most amazing muzzle. It is such an improvement over the bucket-style model, which my horse has gone through at least five over the past years. With the bucket model, he gets very depressed, it rubs sores all over the muzzle & chin area, and he constantly head tosses until he ultimately destroys it after multiple self-removal episodes. He accepts the Green Guard without any of these behavioral symptoms. I think it is because it is a more natural-shaped barrier that is not as confining to his muzzle area. He can breath better as it does not cover the nostrils and does not have the 'ring' effect of handcuffs, or muzzle cuffs, if you will. I came upon a used one for sale on e-Bay and I was determined to win the bid and try it. It unfortunately did not last any longer than the buck-style, but that may have been due to the used condition and the fact that I did not cover the straps as suggested by Joyce until after it developed some tears. I found it impossible to order one directly from the stores in the UK, and I am thrilled that Harmany Equine is now offering this product. I will definitely be getting another one now that I have found a U.S. distributor. I realize that many horses accept the bucket muzzle without the physical or emotional problems that my horse exhibits. However, I believe the Green Guard to be a superior product in design and safety nonetheless.
