I bought this book because it had a lot of advice. Mostly, I didn't understand much of anything when I started reading. I had bought a "fits anything" Wintec and it fit my Arabian, but my legs were in the wrong place all the time. Dr. Harman's book talked about changes to where the strrup bar was that would help, but I couldn't figgure out how to correct the problem except for ponytail bands to push them back.
Then, I got an opportunity to consider buying a used custom-made saddle. By that time I had packed away my copy of the book since I was moving, but my friend who was considering a similar opportunity and I went through many of the suggested measurements. For my friend, her horse needed a diet before a final fittling. For my horse and I, the fit was so good, the measurements verified that it was a match. The saddle was designed for a horse with a short back and a rider with long legs.
Then I was fortunate enough to have Dr. Harman check out the fit personally. I learned a lot from her personal description of the methods described in the book.
This book is work the investment as you consider the much larger investment for a good saddle.
Thanks, Dr. Harman.
